Cause Im a FT2 fanatic and my pourpose is release compatible MOD/XM modules.. I use MIlkytracker.

I dont like VST world for compose since its a hell worrying all the time about upgrade CPU/memory etc each time you load dozen of plugins and the sound crackles.

Reason is similar when you load several machines/effects and your CPU is not enough.

When I need to master tracks I render XM channels separately and I process it with VSTs into a multitrack program

i went totally vst and am now using the vsti-tracker revisit in the great reaper host.

as a former ft2 and skale user it was a bit hard to switch to an impulse tracker inspired interface. but in the end it was totally worth it having your tracker right inside the mixing host is just totally awesome if you do vocals and guitar stuff!

Renoise.

It's very similar to Skale Tracker, both in functionality and in UI. Some of the effect commands are different (I learned them very fast), the rest is just a far more functional and advanced version of everything in Skale, plus some unique features of course.

It's 10x faster and more comfortable to work with because everything is dynamic. Everything can be moved, dragged, drawn and expanded with the mouse without having to do anything else extra. Samples, instruments, patterns etc. can just be freely moved around, and Renoise automatically edits the pattern commands to reflect the new settings. The automation UI is brilliantly effective and easy to use while still offering huge functionality.

Renoise is what I envisioned Skale Tracker to be if it had ever gotten the love and care it should have.

At the moment, I am forced to use MPT for our project since some of the VSTi I want to use are not supported by Skale.

I really hate the sample mapping in MPT, it is so much easier and more logical in Skale. On other things, it is pretty much equal to Skale

Quick comparison:
- it has better VSTi-engine (read: more stable) - but is not a VSTi itself like Skale
- UI is good, on par or little bit better than Skale
- Uses extended IT-format, Skale has SKM
- Is open source, Skale has free licence
- Sound quality is equal to Skale
- Skale has ASIO, MPT not
- MPT has VSTi parameter automation (by macros, in dev version)
- Some other minor differences in features

I now will work with renoise. I have bought it.
But my old songs I will finish with Skale. Cause there is no alternative variant. And the songs are so fine, that I will finish them.

One of the big problems with Sk@le is the performance of the VSTFx and VSTi-interface. Another problem is the using of the EQ. Both produces sound clicks, if you do not know, how to fool Sk@le. I hoped for a long time, this problems would be solved. But after 2 years of nothing, I am fed up with Sk@le. Not because of its functionality.

Hey Baktery. You never say something about many many suggestion we all wrote here. You were being anxious rare while getting somebodies help to solve the problems Sk@le has.
But my most wanted suggestion is, make this really cool peace of software with its momentary features stable, and Skale is what is. But at this moment it makes me angry to work with Sk@le, cause of its evil performance problems.

Make us happy. Please make a high-performance robust version.

I switched to Renoise at the suggestion of a friend and I've been very pleased with it. Since it doesn't output to any of the mod formats, though, I still go with SKALE when I want a straight music module. It's great for everything else, though, and the quality of my music has improved 100% as a result.

no links yet
for the moment, the project is in development stage.
it is not the first of my approaches to tracker conception, but, i hope, it'd be more usable than some previous.

The main features i wish to implement are
1. multidevice output (i need to transmit vocoder carrier)
2. more flexible song structure (no patterns, just tracks)
3. programmatic synths and some buzz-reason-like "wires" (with simple interface, though)
ability to use in live performance:
4. parameters (envelope points, etc) and gui linked to midi input (controllers)
5. built-in fx processor (may be)
