Fasttracker: http://www.gwinternet.com/music/ft2/
Dosbox: http://dosbox.sourceforge.net

Note that Dosbox isn't the fastest emulator around, you'll need a decent CPU for this. It runs smooth at about 1,5 GHz for sure tho.

Unless you need some basic functionality like volume column commands, correct playback of mod commands, a better sample editor, volume scale fade and a whole bunch of other FT2 things, then yes, Skale is better.

Skale is far from perfect, but you know it has better things then FT2 aswell. I`m an FT2 guy, so no need to argue with me, but as cool as staying in the past is, skale is your best bet for the next couple of years.

My skale beefs, are no clone pattern. It can`t be more then 20 minutes worth of code ... I really want to see a RENOISE-ish pattern manager for skale. My files are sooooo complex, I can`t copy and paste all the time, it`s easier for me to just clone pattern and go that way.

Couldn`t care less about the VST shit, It`s too bad this is so high on everyone else's priority list.

- CANCEL (while loading that 700 meg ISO you clicked on by mistake)
- CLONE PATTERN (and or auto re arrange like Renoise)
- DRUM MAP (like in Renoise, where all your INSTRUMENT FILES are tuned correctly to your drum map with one click. Basically all you need to do is add x = previous note x+1 array do until end of instrument.Shitty pseudocode sorry:D)
- INCREASE VOLUME (In the sample editor)
- RETRIG MARKERS (this would be revolutionary for a tracker to do this!!! To make maker points for the lopp to trigger from through SKALE TRACKER syntax)

My latest vinyl was composed with Skale tracker, go check out the free samples at http://www.phuturerave.com/view.php?pID=2915
