*sigh*... am I the only one getting tired from these
mine-is-better-than-yours-kinda-posts???
Just make music with whatever tool you like.
I've heard music from newer trackers with 64channels or whatever,
but still some old songs with 4 channels blow them away. In this case,
I'm mainly talking about the music, and not the sample quality with
a few more bits or bytes, or whatever...
Features, cool gfx, more bits or bytes, bigger samples, etc... all nice,
but if the musician doesn't know how to use them properly, or has
no good musical feel, it's all just a dead-feature-galore, and nothing
more... no matter what tool we are talking about then.
*phew*... just have to get this off my chest some times, even if it
probably doesn't make any sense, though!
happy tracking
cheers

Hell Yeah Stevie,
I agree with you. But I also go on to say "support the people keeping the tracking scene alive" as in Bak, Yannick and TaktiK. If someone spends years working on a tight tracking program, and someone says, "its crap", I think that's f_ked up.
Competition is sometimes nice (like one software has VST, then the next one has to have it!) but I'd rather see a musician contest !
that would be cool if SKM users, MT2 users and RNS users entered in the same contest. (and stopped dissing eachother!) |

Sure competition is fun and cool in the scene! But I think a lot
of times people tend to forget that Skale is part of the scene...
as well as MT2, IT, FT2, etc...etc...etc...!!!
Healthy competition... sure, great!
As far as I can remember I have loved songs in S3M, IT, XM, SKM,
MOD, etc... all kinds of formats. I think that is one of the things of
the scene (and every musician in the world)... different ways to get
to your 'heaven'.
My god... i'm getting old, preaching like this!
can I get an AMEN???
cheers

yo solidreptile,
yez, you should feel ashamed! because you said things that weren't true, and you caused a lot of trouble!
but seriously dood, I think you're probally pretty cool because you are THAT passionate about tracking software (be it Madtracker or whatever) which is good stuff.
So I recommend that you download a few Mp3s which were made with Skale and you'll see it has good sound quality too.
SWtevie,
hell yeah, This is a cool scene. I have a big collection of s3ms, xms, and ITs. Even though the scene might be moving towards everything being rendered to Mp3s and having VST effects, I still don't think the scene is dead. and I think Skale is helping very much keep it alive. I hope so at least.
What do you guys think? |

As long as the forums of tracker programs keep their good spirit the scene is pretty much alive and I've seen no reason to think otherwise _________________ Error: no signature found. |

Oh one more thing. I just took my first serious testdrive on Skale today. I didnt read any docs and my memory of FT2 is quite fuzzy so I had a hard time figuring out some basic things, but after I got down to it, I have to say, this tracker is the best things since sliced bread. Screw Reason! I'm getting on this train! |

If you like Skale you must checkout Renoise. Btw if you register R.e.n.o.i.s.e today you get to test the alpha that will be released tomorrow |

Skale is a good idea.
However in time it must be converted to a good program, not a good idea. Its taken enough time as it is now imo.
Many things do not work and most do not work properly, its like a handicapped version of ft2.
Its very frustrating to track in such condititions, ive worked in ft2 and find skale very easy to work with since its almost the same principles.
Skale is built on empty promises and long release dates, its more killing the scene than keeping it alive.
I think awsome created this idea to get some major promotion. Its all that it has created thus far. |

Check on when I joined this forum and how many "betas" they have released since. I rest my case.
Baktery, no offense I guess youve put much time on this but its really bad to start up something and not finish it. In proper time that is. |
