Hello dear staff of Skale Tracker
I really appreciate your hard work to develope a tracker..
but i really dont like this tracker at all..
if you wish to move on with the name of a fasttracker based tracker..
then help us by developing a fastracker 2.09 XP Patch that is compatitble with all versions of windows...
And!

1. If you like FT2 interface, how can you work in MadTracker??
2. Do you really think anybody needs that old FT2 under XP, since Skale Tracker released? All my friends who tracked in FT2 (I prefer ST3/IT) moved to Slake, and they are happy now _________________ Manwe/SandS

Ft2 was good but its not compatible with todays standards, i used ft2 but moved on to skale as soon as it was possible to save in it
Im not even gonna start mentioning the advantages of skale over ft2 cuz its never wise to fuck with your daddy. |

Solid Reptile I really dont undertand you...
I know people using ZX spectrum trackers.. and I dont say "hey, your tracker sucks... move to XXX tracker or PC trackers cause are best".
They are happy using their Speccy trackers and are happy with the music they make. And most important: I RESPECT THEM because I use trackers and love this way of make music too....
If you want post this kind of stuff, why dont you move to these forums where people says: ALL TRACKERS SUCKS/ TRACKERS ARE DEAD/ ETC? |

its just because skale doens't works fine
half of the functions are disabled
it has not that level of stereo sound that Madtracker has
and strange enough..
my feeling tells that ft2 and mt2 follow each other like A follows B
mt2 also looks more professional and offers more than skale does _________________ www.solid-reptile.tk |

Did you miss the big sign that says "BETA" and the indistinguishable pop-up when you start Skale that clearsly states "SKALE TRACKER IS STILL BETA"?
Now comes my follow up questions:
<cut - thank you>
At any rate, have it your way, kid. _________________ sYnCHAoZ.com v3.0 |

I think his post wasn't that bad actually...
though the subject was a bit blunt, of course.
Like I said before.. everyone, choose your
'weapon of choice', and make good music.
One of the great things in this world is freedom
of choice (for a lot of people though) and being
able to be and act different.
Have fun tracking and stop annoying eachother!
my two cents again... can I get an amen??
cheers

It wouldn't be if the topic was, "I think Skale is crap".
Still it's just another "I'm on a crusade to convert all 'heretics' to use MT2" thread.
For the rest I agree with St3vie. |

Like Manwe said; If you like FT2 interface, how can you work in MadTracker?? Skale tracker must be easier to work with anyhow.
I find it odd you want to use FT2 but not Skale.
In my opinion it is FT2, only with enhancements of modern trackers.
You just have to not use those enhancements, and you got FT2.
Heck, you even have more channels too, which was my biggest concern back in the days
For now I never use Skale anymore, Im focused on Propellerheads Reason 2.5 instead. That's my choice, but I don't brag about Skale beeing hopeless. I just work better in Reason. Others might work vice versa.
Just my thoughts.
Cheers. |

Well, actually Skale is not 100% compatible with ft2. For example the tremolo effect is not working the same way as in ft2. Another thing is the volume column: where is 'volume slide up/down' and 'fine volume slide up/down'? My ft2 songs are not played propeerly. I'm pretty sure there are more issues, I just can't remember all of them.
So the answer to 2nd question is: yes, I still need ft2 (Renoise is not 100 % compatible either).
I don't think Skale is a crap, but still, for me Renoise is a better choice. The one of two things which is bothering me the most is the way how Skale handles Fx effects - they are not internal, which is causing a lot of troubles. That means, I replaced my hard drive so I have a new folder structure. Thank to the fact that the path to vst effect is written in the song file (why?), these effects cannot be loaded when I try to load my old songs 'cos the path doesn't exist anymore. Got it? The solution would be to store fx plugins in the same folder as the songs are, but I just don't wanna mess it up this way. Why doesn't Skale try to find FXs in the specified directory first? If I compare it to Renoise, it has internal DSPs, so if I load someone else's song, there are no worries whether plugins are stored in the right directory. You don't mind 25 MB (!) skin file so why can't you add some extra kilobytes to Skale executable? Actually, only a few effects are essential - reverb, delay (synchronized with bpm!) and compressor/limiter. Everything else you don't need in every song.
The other thing I don't like is that I can't change colours. I don't like the green skin and making a new one is way too much work. In Renoise it's more fastrackerish - very easy to set up the right colour scheme.
I think that's enough for now. No offense, really, I just expressed my feelings.
PS: Why is R.e.n.o.i.s.e automatically renamed to jabbanoising? |

I also really dont like Modplug..
because the tracks are small.. and I dont feel at home tracking in it..
I think the tracks of skale and modplug have something in common.. _________________ www.solid-reptile.tk |

No tracker matches one another. From the very beginning of trackinghistory, no version of Soundmonitor, Noisetracker, Protracker, Fasttracker etc. have never been full compatible with each other.
I think Skaletracker is very close to the FT2 platform. The art of creating music in Skaletracker is pretty much the same as in FT2, and that's what counts!!
Who gives a damn if the Tremolo is a little bit different?
You guys should think BIG instead. (I also have my all time favorite
oldschool tunes, but I alter them, so they match Skaletracker instead of complaining)
And actually,, when I load the good ol' Fasttracker, I think that it looks rather lame by now!!
The tracks are not too small in skale, I actually like that I can "see" all the work in one piece. If you think the tracks are too small, buy a 21" monitor to get a bigger resolution
That was just some of the advantages of skale over ft2, spelled out for you.
Who's your daddy? Skaletracker is your god damn daddy!
..and he's growing.. |

Yeah, the pattern is another story... I'd say the spacing between lines is unnecessarily large. And I would appreciate more separation between notes and instrument numbers. Why are the note + octave nuber so wide? Instead of D # 4 0 1 it should be like D#4 01. But this is a problem of R.e.n.o.i.s.e too (to some extent). The pattern data should be easy to read. |
